Data center opposition tour scheduled to visit Geneva
A statewide group opposing data center expansion is scheduled to visit Geneva to urge Gov. Kathy Hochul to sign legislation on data center development.

A statewide tour organized by NY Fights AI Data Centers is scheduled to visit Geneva to discuss data center development around Seneca Lake and urge Gov. Kathy Hochul to sign the Responsible Data Center Development Act. The state Legislature passed the measure in June, while Hochul has issued an executive order establishing a temporary pause on large-scale data centers.
The Seneca Lake discussion includes the Dresden facility formerly known as Greenidge Generation. The company recently announced plans to change its name to Vulcan Infrastructure and Power and pursue data center opportunities. The site began as a coal-fired power plant, later converted to natural gas, and was expanded to house cryptocurrency-mining servers.
