Diesel prices near record levels in Watertown area
Diesel prices are near the Watertown area's record average as North Country businesses face higher fuel costs.
By the ClickNNY North Country Desk
The average diesel price in the Watertown area was reported at $6.16 a gallon Monday, just below the area's record average of $6.49 set in May 2022. The national average was reported at $6.23, compared with $3.69 at the same time last year.
Derrigo Service Center in the town of Hounsfield operates about five or six trucks daily and has been monitoring fuel prices before refilling its tank. The business does not currently add a fuel surcharge for customers. AAA attributed recent price increases to uncertainty involving overseas conflicts and crude-oil shipments.
