The Massena Village Board approved an agreement for a second school resource officer at Massena Central School District, but the school board’s vote did not pass. Four members supported the measure and one opposed it; three members were absent and one seat was vacant.
The proposed agreement would add Officer Shawn Hatch to work alongside Juvenile Officer and SRO Michael Flynn. The contract listed a $152,000 amount and included a start date of July 1, 2026, although officials discussed prorating it because Hatch was not expected to begin until Sept. 1. No date was set for another school board meeting.
